Triumph at the IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2015
On 4 December 2015, Cornerstones was one of the proud sponsors at the buzzing IR Magazine Awards – Greater China 2015 held at the Mandarin Oriental. Excitement was thick in the air at the event touted as the Oscars of the IR industry to recognize excellence in investor relations. It was with great pleasure that we saw two of our clients walk away with some of the award’s top prizes. TCL Communications (2618.HK) was awarded Grand Prix for Best Overall Investor Relations (Mid-Cap), Best Investor Relations Officer (Small & Mid-Cap), and Best IR by a Mainland China Company (Non-State-owned Enterprise). While Kerry Logistics (636.HK), a first time participant at the event, received the awards for Best IR by a Hong Kong Company, Best in Sector (Industrial), and Most Progress in IR. We look forward to working with all of our clients to build stronger IR programmes and establish excellence in IR practices and believe we will see more of them on stage in the future!
TCL Multimedia x Letv Form Powerhouse Alliance
On 14 December 2015, TCL Multimedia (1070.HK) together with Letv hosted a press conference in Shenzhen, announcing their strategic cooperation to leverage their combined advantages and develop a new business model. Their goal is to combine Letv’s strength in internet-connected smart TV applications and services with TCL Multimedia’s leadership position in the TV industry, while jointly pursuing global expansion for advanced smart TVs. Energy at the event was heightened as management from both companies stepped on stage to discuss their in-depth cooperation plans. The highly anticipated conference was attended by hundreds of media and industry analysts from Hong Kong, mainland China and other regions. We can’t wait to witness the exciting advancements this partnership will bring as it ushers in a new era of global TV market.
 
Kerry Logistics Making Leaps and Bounds

It was a busy year for Kerry Logistics (636.HK), besides winning its three coveted IR Magazine awards, it was also the proud recipient of several other prestigious industry awards.

In November 2015, it was named Asian 3PL of the Year at the Supply Chain Asia Awards 2015 held in Singapore. This was a third time win for them, having received the award back to back in 2011 and 2012. In December, Kerry Logistics was presented with the International Award at the DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards 2015. Over 26 years old, the DHL/SCMP Hong Kong Business Awards is one of the most prominent distinctions in the region. In the same month, the company was again honoured for their achievements, this time at the Hong Kong Corporate Governance Excellence Awards 2015, for their outstanding commitments to upholding strong CG practices.

On 7 December 2015, Kerry Logistics was thrilled to be a participant at the Economic Summit 2016: Roadmap to Hong Kong Success, one of the most important economic forums in town. Mr Edwardo Erni, Executive Director of Kerry Logistics was invited as one of the panelists to speak on the topic “The China Dream: the Dynamics and Interaction with the Global Economy”. With great insights, Mr Erni talked about the beneficial integration of Hong Kong’s logistics industry and the ‘One Belt One Road’ initiative. Also in conjunction with the event, Mr Samuel Lau, Executive Director of Kerry Logistics Hong Kong, attended an interview on the popular Metro Finance Radio programme to share his perspectives on the future of logistics in Hong Kong.

On 18 July 2015, Chairman of Kerry Logistics and Singapore’s former Minister for Foreign Affairs, Mr George Yeo, held the launch of his eagerly anticipated book “George Yeo on Bonsai, Banyan and the Tao” at the Hong Kong Book Fair 2015. The book is a collection of his most vivid speeches and essays spanning the 23 years of his public life. During the event, Mr Yeo and two esteemed guest speakers from the SCMP and Ming Pao shared their viewpoints on Asia’s future developments and The New Maritime Silk Road and its Impact on Hong Kong and Singapore. Audiences, media personnel, and old and new book fans alike shared an insightful and mind-opening afternoon at this special event.
TSL Jewellery- Caring and Charity Above and Beyond
On 9 December 2015, TSL Jewellery (417.HK) partnered with UNICEF HK to launch “Your Little Their Mickle” charity campaign in a joint effort to improve the living environment and raise awareness on personal hygiene of children in Mainland China. The launch ceremony at The One in TST was attended by senior management of the company and executives of UNICEF as they showed their support for the inauguration of this meaningful campaign. The theme song “iPANDAS” was also debuted that day, a song written specifically for the campaign by long-time supporter Jermaine Jackson, composer, singer and member of The Jackson 5. Supporters can donate spare change from jewellery purchase at any TSL Jewellery stores in Hong Kong, with donations matched by the company.
 
China Zhongwang – Firm Rebuttal Against Short-sellers’ Erroneous Allegations Saw Strong Share Rebound
Cornerstones acted swiftly to assist China Zhongwang (1333.HK) in August 2015 when they became the target of an unknown short seller’s attack. With full crisis management response in place, Zhongwang was able to effectively dispel the erroneous allegations and minimise any damages. Share prices have rebounded strongly since then, alongside continuing development and growth in the company’s performance.

In October 2015, Cornerstones arranged two media tours for China Zhongwang, to bring media friends from Hong Kong and China to the company’s high value-added aluminium project in Tianjin Wuqing Auto Parts Industrial Park. Focusing on high-end flat rolled projects with high added value, it is the world’s largest single-plant flat rolled aluminium project investment ever and will contribute significantly to the Zhongwang’s future growth. The tour group was guided through the plant’s production line and equipment facilities, and also witnessed some of the equipment testing processes. The tour was well-received by participants, followed with numerous positive coverage of the project’s progress and future prospects.
Introduction of Strategic Investor for Yanchang Petroleum International
On 23 December 2015, Yanchang Petroleum International (346.HK) successfully issued convertible bonds to a wholly-owned subsidiary of CCBI at an aggregated principal amount of US$46.3 million and a conversion price of HK$0.40 per share. Upon full conversion of the bonds, CCBI will become a strategic investor of Yanchang Petroleum reflecting its confidence in the company’s future development strategy, business performance and growth. The proceeds will be used to provide a strong foundation and funding base for the company’s strategic investment and future M&As.
 
Hainan Investment Holdings – Successful Rights Issue
Cornerstones had the pleasure of working with HNA Investment (521.HK) as they successfully completed a Rights Issue to raise nearly RMB3 billion in capital as the Group explores long-term investment opportunities in the market. HNA Investment is a Hong Kong listed subsidiary of HNA Group, a Fortune 500 Global Company whose business spans real estate, technology, retail, airport operations and more. The funds raised has significantly strengthened the company’s capital base as it prepares for future business expansions and look for new stable investment return projects both at home and overseas.
